Find out about the cute aardwolf: The Unknown “Wolf” You’ll Love

Hyenas and aardwolves are both wild cats that are in the same family. Aardwolves and hyenas look a lot alike, but aardwolves eat insects instead of bones. They also eat ants. In Dutch, “aard” means “earth” and is used in both aardwolf and aardvark.

The aardwolf is a cute animal that comes from East and Southern Africa. They like living in holes in the ground, but most of the time they move into other animals’ abandoned dens. This animal is shy and only comes out at night. In the winter, though, they do the opposite to save energy. They eat and sleep during the day. With their long mouths, aardwolves can eat a lot of termites. One aardwolf can eat up to 300,000 termites every night! A full-grown aardwolf is about the size of a fox, and they stay with the same mate their whole lives. You should go see an aardwolf for yourself because they are pretty and cute. Just go down!
