Deputy saved the wife by pushing her out of the crash. He just woke up from a 23-day coma.

Life throws you curve balls all the time. You never know what will happen on any given day. A young couple was standing on the side of the road when a car came at them at full speed.

The husband thought quickly and pushed his wife out of the way, which saved her life. But he didn’t have the same luck.

On August 1, a 31-year-old man named Raymond Surber was off-duty and driving his 2017 Chevrolet Silverado when he hit a young couple standing on the side of the road. Lucas Shoffner and his wife, Nicole Shoffner, were trying to fix a dirt bike on the side of the road when Surber hit them.

When the crash happened, it was about 11:17 p.m. The husband and the wife were hurt in the accident, but Lucas’s injuries worsened.

Matt Fagiana, who works for the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association, told the public that Lucas pushed his wife to the side, which made her injuries worse. Fagiana says that the brave things Lucas did save his wife’s life.

“Let’s begin to pray for our friend. This guy needs a second chance at life more than anyone else. Fagiana said, “He’s nice, loyal, funny, and as strong as a damn ox.” “You’ve got this, Lucas, and Nicole and I are with you all the way.”

Nicole was taken to Fort Sanders quickly for a CT scan and x-rays of her head. At the same time, Lucas was hurt badly in the head and was taken to the UT Medical Center’s Transplant Intensive Care Unit for treatment. Lucas was put into a coma with medicine. Soon after, he was taken off the drug that paralysed him, but he was still put to sleep.

Unlike her husband, Lucas, Nicole’s injuries were not as bad. She was rallying around him and helping him get better in every way. Their friends set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the couple’s medical bills.

They set a goal of raising $100,000, and more than $93,000 was collected. Nicole thanked everyone who helped them and donated money, as well as those praying for the young couple to get better.

Lucas was in a coma for 23 days. When he finally woke up, doctors said he was on the way to getting better. Reports say that Lucas will now go to a rehabilitation centre in Atlanta to keep getting better.

Nicole’s Instagram posts show that Lucas’s recovery is going well. Recently, the ASCO deputy walked 200 steps at the rehabilitation centre. His wife was proud of him, and many people in their lives were happy for them.

Lucas pushed his wife out of the way to save her life, but he got hurt so badly that he could die. That’s real love that makes someone give up their own needs.
