A story has come out about a family in Finland who took in and cared for a hurt red squirrel they found and lived with for six years.
A “Reddit” user named Priami put up pictures of the creature and wrote about how they found it. The user’s grandmother thought at first that it was dead. Even so, when the car started to move again as she tried to get it off the road, she gave it to Priami to keep safe.
They tried to set it free, but it couldn’t move because it was blind in one eye, so they kept it and gave it the name “Arttu.” The squirrel lived with them from 2007 to 2013.

On the side of the road, the hurt baby squirrel was found.
“When it looked like he was better, we tried to put him back in the wild, but he fell out of a tree and hit a rock.”
“He made it, but we realized that his eye would never fully heal, and he wouldn’t be able to live on his own.”
“His name was Arttu, which in Finnish is about the same as “Arthur.” “We were surprised by how “tame” he got.”
“Like cats, he liked to play “fight” with our hands, but he was careful not to bite too hard.”
“He also liked sleeping in our pockets.”
“He even knew who his “family” was and became very wary of strangers.”
“We gave him nuts, fruits, berries, and mushrooms,” the narrator says.
Even when they let him go, he always came back. “He stayed there for a while and then jumped back to my shoulder,” they said.
“Squirrel’s claws are always getting longer, so we have to cut them every so often since he can’t wear them down on his own.”
