A surfer who had been lost for about 12 hours off the coast of Ireland was saved by a group of dolphins. People came to help because of how smart the sea creatures were. In the end, they found the tired man and saved him.
A pod of dolphins helped a rescue team from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) find a lost swimmer while they were looking for him a few days ago. Even though he was lost for 12 hours, the man was able to stay alive, and volunteers found him when a small group of bottlenose dolphins surrounded him.
Around 20:30, the voluntary lifeboat crew from Fenit RNLI saw a pod of dolphins and a head sticking out of the water about 2.5 miles off Castlegregory beach. The victim was taken to Fenit Harbour and put on a lifeboat while he or she was still living so that he or she could be taken to the hospital.
The man, who stayed anonymous, told the rescue team that he meant to swim to a small rocky island five kilometres from the beach where his clothes were found. A few beachgoers had seen the man’s clothes lying around for hours before they told the police. The police then started a search.
Even though the man had been alone at sea for a long time, he was only “hypothermic and tired.” He will get better soon. The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group told the BBC that this type of dolphin was just seen off the coast of Ireland.
But the people who came to help said that this man was very lucky to be found living. Also, they tell people about sea adventurers so that more people know about them.
Finbarr O’Connell of the RNLI told the local reporters that there were a lot of dolphins around when we found him.
“Who knows? Maybe they helped him in some way. But this guy had a lot of good luck.
