Speaking of people who show up out of the blue, the owner of a candy shop was surprised when a customer showed up out of the blue. Customers were surprised when a deer walked into Ocean Shores, Washington’s “Buddy & Howie’s Candy Store,” which is owned by Jennifer Strobel and her husband. Strobel told The Dodo that he was walking down the street when he came right up to their front door. “He took a look inside. “Wow!” was my first word of surprise.
The usually shy animal walked around the shop and sniffed the sweets. On video, the cat could be seen sniffing at the taffy exhibit and moving slowly through the aisles. Even he couldn’t resist the smells and sights of his favorite sweets. He couldn’t help but be interested in the salty taffy. Strobel says that in the video, it looks like he grabbed a piece of buttered popcorn candy. “I tried very hard to stay cool. It was certainly strange.
He was soon shocked and ran out the door as people took out their phones to record and take pictures of the animal. The store owners were lucky that they didn’t get hurt. “He didn’t do any harm!” Plus Strobel. That’s the best part. I’m worried that he might tell all his friends where the best taffy is in town. I hope they’ll take a look around but not come in. It was a once-in-a-lifetime event, that much is certain.
This morning, we had a special guest stop by to look at the taffy boat. Strobel wrote about the event in a post on Facebook. He agrees with it! Ocean Shores Police have now added a video of the whole thing. I think we’re dealing with a person who steals candy. The story really is funny.
