A wildlife fan took a picture of a mother lion saving her cub from danger. The young lion cub fell to its death off the edge of a steep cliff. The child did not fall straight to the ground, which is good.
As he screamed in fear and pain, his mother, three more female lionesses, and one male lion went to the edge to find out what was wrong. The lions tried to go down the hill to get to the cub initially, but they quickly realised it was too steep and dangerous.
But even though her cub kept crying out in fear for her, the mother lion tried again to save her baby. She moved slowly down the cliff, using her strong claws to hold on to the crumbling edge as she went. If she made just one mistake, she and her child might both fall off the cliff. The mother gets to her tired baby just as he seems about to fall, and she picks him up with her strong hands.
Then she starts the dangerous climb back up to the top. After what seemed like hours but was only minutes, the mother lion climbs up with her cub safely in her grip. After giving him a big, motherly lick on the top of his head, she gently sets him down on the ground.
The fact that the mother cat was willing to risk her life to save her cubs means the story will have a happy ending. Any mother will tell you that it is the most powerful force in the world
