As a couple plans their wedding, one of the most important things they need to do is choose their guests. But sometimes, even the best planning can’t tell if a guest—especially a fluffy llama—will steal the show at the party. A llama named J recently went to a wedding in upstate New York. Its one-of-a-kind suit made it look less like a cute animal and more like a stylish groomsman.
Llama Adventures, a farm whose goal is to “bring the joy of llamas to everyone,” takes care of Jr. And what could be more fun than having a cute animal show up dressed as a party guest? To make it look like J is standing up straight and wearing a tuxedo with style, the llama’s outfit has its hands crossed and its pants ironed. When seen from the right angle, the llama’s behind is covered, making it look like he is standing like a cross between a human and a llama, taking pictures, getting smooches from the bridesmaids, and talking with his fellow groomsmen.
The way J acts shows that this is not his first rodeo—or wedding, to be more specific. The Llama Adventures team tells My Modern Met, “He also regularly goes to birthday parties, nursing homes, school events, and other places.” But being at Tara and Adam’s wedding as more of a best man than a strange animal was truly special for both the people who were taking care of him and the guests.
On top of being cool to see a llama, his visit meant a lot more. “The mother of the bride called us to ask if we could bring a llama to the wedding.” For Llama Adventures, it was a surprise for the bride. “She seems to want to own a llama farm all her life.” The photos show that Tara was very happy to have the llama share her special day with her. The llama not only posed cheekily for family photos, but it also stood as a groomsman during the service.
There’s no doubt that the llama, whose full name is BC JJ’s Hallelujah, is having a great time. “J doesn’t mind at all and likes the attention,” his trainers say. “Taking J (or other llamas) to events is always fun. Most of the time, it’s the first time people have met llamas up close. Our tagline says it all: We love showing other people how much fun llamas can be. People like J are great ambassadors.
Llama Adventure has a website and a Facebook page that you can follow to find out more about J and see what he’s up to at parties.
